Wednesday, September 15 Prayer Summary
But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

What happened:
Tonight at prayer (at the pond!), we thought, discussed, and prayed about what it is to partner with God in the supernatural here on earth, here in Athens. God hungers for our prayers, though we knows what we're going to pray before we pray it. We tend to put so many boundaries around ourselves--that we can't do things, that things can't be redeemed...those are "flat not true" (John's phrase). The Lord asks of us to have an open, willing heart to Him, and He'll do the rest.
For hundreds of years the church as been doing things the church can do without God, and consequently getting glory for itself. When God is the only one who can do it He will get His glory. We just HAVE to be open to how the Lord will work. He wants us to partner with Him, to join with Him. We just have to be open to how the Lord will work.
